Dunbar Leisure Pool is set to close for an eight week period to enable a £1.6million maintenance upgrade to be carried out.
Pool owners enjoyleisure say the upgrade will secure the presence of this highly popular visitor destination for years to come.
Having just celebrated its 23rd year in operation, Dunbar Leisure Pool has welcomed millions of visitors to Dunbar over the years as the dedicated Sports and Leisure centre within the town. The planned upgrades will dramatically improve the longevity of the Centre, safeguarding its existence to ensure it can serve the local community as a sports and leisure hub and continue to be a major contributor in boosting the local economy by attracting visitors to the town for the next 20 plus years.
Commencing on Monday, October 26, an eight week extensive maintenance programme will include the replacement of the air handling units which regulate the air temperature through the centre, electrical rewiring throughout and refurbishments to the flume. A drain down of the pool to allow a deep clean and re-grouting is also planned.
While the majority of the tasks will take place behind the scenes, customers will benefit from the installation of a brand new Steam Room, upgrades to showering facilities in the pool area, refreshed decoration and greatly improved LED lighting throughout the building.
The improvements will also enable enjoyleisure to take a much more sustainable approach to environmental concerns and energy efficiencies.
