THEIR arrival last month came just in time for Easter and now the ducklings mothered by Eyemouth local celebrity Ducky have names thanks to a fundraising competition.
Shortly after the little ones’ arrival last month, Ducky’s owner James Anderson came up with the idea of having a ‘name the ducklings’ competition which as well as inspiring a number of interesting suggestions has also raised £100 to be split between Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland and the RNLI.
The contest generated 210 entries and the winning entries, which were drawn by James’ niece Jessica on Saturday, were Honey, chosen by Jacqueline Craig from Burnmouth, and Linford, the idea of Maureen Johnstone from Burnmouth.
More than half of the money raised was gathered when James and Jessica sat outside local florist Occasions last Thursday to give people a chance to meet the ducklings and get some inspiration for possible names.
The birth of the ducklings came as a shock to James, as with Ducky moving around so much since being prohibited from staying on Eyemouth allotments, he never expected her to become broody.
