Crowds gathered in the town’s Market Square this week to see Darren Aitchison installed as the Duns Reiver for 2015.

Moving on from being Right Hand Man to outgoing Reiver Ross Foreman, Darren was joined at the ceremony by his lass, Stacey Wilson.

They were accompanied by their Right hand Man, Euan Reed, and Right Hand Lass, Jade Whellans.

The principals were installed in a ceremony in the square, making the most of the evening sunshine.

This year’s festival colours have been chosen, and the theme will be larkspur (blue) and gold.

Also taking part in this year’s celebrations will be the Wynsome Mayde elect, Mariah Rong, and her Maydes of Honour Ailsa Dewar, Sophie Scott, Abbi Lindsay and Jenni Gray.

Their roles were announced at a coffee morning held on the morning of Saturday, April 18.

First held in 1949 as a way of honouring Duns’ history and traditions, the town’s Summer Festival returns this year between July 7 and 11.

The main ride out will be held on Saturday, July 11, leaving Duns at 9am.

Hand Ba’, the traditional handball game, will be played as usual in the market Square on Friday, July 10 at 6pm.

Tickets for the Reivers Ball will be on sale in Market Square, Duns between 10am-12 noon on Saturday May 2.

Tickets are £32.50, limited to 6 per person. Music by Cool Reception. Over 18s only. Dress code is full length gowns for ladies, suits or kilts for men.
