WORK has started on a replacement building for the Countess Youth and Community Centre in Dunbar.

The youth and community centre, which opened in November, 1982, has been knocked down to make way for a new £3.6 million community facility at the Bleachingfield in Dunbar.

Work has started on the new replacement building which will accommodate the library, community meeting and activity spaces, council housing and customer services office, after school and play facility, a youth cafe, and hall with two badminton courts and a changing area.

The Scout group will also relocate to the community facility which is expected to be completed by 2012.
