Coldstream Playgroup and Toddlers now have their own garden, officially opened on National Children’s Day last week.

The playgroup received lottery money from the Scottish Communities and Families fund to develop the garden area at Coldstream Primary School, which has been fenced off, a new shed built for storing toys and equipment, an area of it laid out in bark and new toys and equipment ordered.

Hoping the garden will be well used by young families, play leader Brenda Robb said: “Having this space within the school grounds means that children feel part of the school community long before they are introduced to formal education, as well as getting opportunities for active physical play.”
