The Bishop of Edinburgh, the Rt Revd John Armes joined the minister of St Mary and All Souls Church in Coldstream, Rev Chris Knights, sacristan Peter Young and the congregation on Monday evening, October 28, to celebrate the church’s centenary.

The evening also brought to a close the eighth and final Flodden Flower Festival and in his sermon Rt Revd Armes highlighted the church’s link to the battle - the foundation stone laid in 1913, 400 years after the Battle of Flodden, and the church’s name ‘All Souls’ a reminder of the dead of both nations. Rt Revd Armes also reminded the congregation that it is the people, rather than the building, that is the church.
