Chirnside ambulance crew received a potentially life-saving donation from generous staff at Duns-based potato firm Greenvale AP recently.

The 200 strong team at Greenvale’s Craigwalls site raised over £1,160 through a variety of fund-raising events including car washes, food days and raffles over the past year to buy a resuscitation stabiliser access kit for the Chirnside team whose three ambulances cover a 600 mile catchment area.

Packaging manager Daniel Romaines explained: “As a business we feel it is important to help support our local community and each year we choose a number of good causes to support in the area. Our staff have given generously and supported our charity drive with much enthusiasm and we look forward to supporting more initiatives in the new year.”

“The Chirnside ambulance service is extremely important to us as the majority of our staff live within the catchment area they cover and our staff may at some point need to call upon their services.

The access kit donated can be used to administer fluids or drugs to patients immediately through their bone marrow when veins are difficult to locate.
