As well as keeping busy in the classroom, the children of Allsorts Nursery in Duns did their bit for the local community recently when they took part in a sponsored litter pick in and around Duns town centre.

The town was graced with the presence of 11 little litter pickers for the event, who were assisted by 15 adult helpers who also helped collect rubbish.

The litter pick was a big success, with 10 bags of rubbish being collected on the day, raising a total of £300 for nursery funds in the process.

£84 was gathered from donations from members of the public in the Market Square alone.

Nursery manager Ashleigh Wright would like to thank Scottish Borders Council and Clean Up Scotland for donating the equipment for the children to use and everyone who helped them reach their fantastic fundraising target.

Donations are still coming in and it’s hoped that the grand total will be even more impressive.

It’s a busy time for Allsorts Nursery at the moment .

They are going through a relaunch at present and have had 31 new enrolments in the last month.
