SIR, - Scottish Borders Council are currently advancing a proposal to combine council contact centres and libraries.
The two offer very important, but different services to the residents of the Borders.
I urge anyone who values these services to add their voice to the demand that the proposals be put out to a proper public consultation so that all can be made aware of what is being put forward.
Current plans are for the changes to be voted on by the council in September and implementation started in 2012.
Rushed, damaging changes to the services with little or no financial savings are difficult to justify. The first location for these changes to take effect is Duns.
How many users in the town are even aware that major changes are afoot?
