Canon leads annual royalist march

Every year, Canon Alan Hughes from Wark leads a contingent of around 600 members of The English Civil War Society on a parade from St James’ Palace to The Mall and on the Horse Guards Parade.

They retrace the final journey of King Charles I, the only English monarch to be tried for treason, who was executed on January 30, 1649 after bloody war between royalists and parliamentarians.
