Agricultural shows such as the annual Glendale Show are very much dependent on three things – the weather, the visitors - and sponsorship.
Thankfully in recent years the show has had the weather and the visitors – which, fingers crossed, will continue on Bank Holiday Monday, August 27.
Despite the double dip recession, once again the 2012 show has received a sizable contribution for the third item - sponsorship. Organisers, the Glendale Agricultural Society, are delighted to announce that the four associate sponsors of the 120th Glendale Show are The Wood Heating Company, Lazy Grace, The Northumberland National Park and Jeff Dobson Marquees.
The Wood Heating Company, a Cramlington-based firm, has just agreed to a three-year sponsorship contract.
The firm has been commissioning and fitting biomass boilers throughout rural and urban Northumberland, Yorkshire, the Scottish Borders and further afield for over 30 years, as well as installing and supplying an excellent range of wood burning stoves and cookers.
Managing director Mike Blakeley commented: “We are delighted to be sponsors of the Glendale Show, which is one of the most popular agricultural events in Northumberland.
“The Wood Heating Company and Glendale Show are extremely well aligned - both are extremely well established, have a great reputation, and are committed to the rural community in the north of England.
“You always know you’re going to have a really good time at the Glendale Show, whatever the weather, and you always know you will have an excellent biomass heating system installed in your farm, your work place or your home by The Wood Heating Company!”
Many of The Wood Heating Company’s existing clients live and work within a fifty mile radius of Glendale Show. Mike says that by taking a long term decision to support the event, the business is demonstrating its commitment to the rural community.
Of the other associate sponsors, Lazy Grace is a web design and print work company based in Rothbury, which looks after the Society’s print and web based communications. Northumberland National Park has been offering sponsorship for a number of years, and Jeff Dobson Marquees, from County Durham, will be supplying the marquees across the event.
Glendale Show secretary Rachael Smith said: “Without the support of our associate sponsors the show simply would not go on.
“The costs involved in putting together an event of this size far exceed the admissions from visitors coming to enjoy a day out.
“A number of other sponsors have come forward with contributions and I would like to express my thanks on behalf of the Glendale Show to these companies and individuals as well. Now in its 120th year it is wonderful to see the support of local companies and those companies from a little further afield.”
She added: “We all have our fingers crossed that the weather redeems itself and we are looking forward to a fantastic day out.”
