Animal welfare charity Borders Pet Rescue has signed the lease on a new shop in Kelso.

It will be the charity’s fourth shop. It opened a new shop in Hawick last May and already has ones in Galashiels and Duns.

The new shop, at 3 The Square, right in the centre of the town, adjacent to the RBS bank, is likely to open in the middle of January.

It costs over £2,000 to run the rescue centre, and the shops make a huge contribution to those costs.
