People in Berwickshire looking for work in social care can benefit from a new, free service, unique to the Borders.
Borders charity Encompass has launched a website offering PAs, companions carers, support workers, befrienders, and others the chance to be included in an online database that can be searched by employers.
Any PA in the Borders looking for work can now register their information on the database. Employers who are clients of the Encompass Administration & Employer Support Service can visit the site to look for assistants.
Encompass was formerly known as Borders Direct Payment Agency. It received funding from the Office for Disability Issues for Disabled Persons User Led Organisations (DPULO) to research and create the new site.
Niccy Kershaw, Manager of Encompass, said: “We are excited to be launching the database. There is an increasing demand for personal assistants locally, and the new website offers a valuable resource for the Borders, bringing together PAs and the people who seek to employ them.
“It doesn’t guarantee work for people, but is a reference point for employers to view information.”
