THE renowned Lauder Herds Supper takes place next month and this year will raise money for kidney dialysis at the Borders General Hospital.
The annual event, which regularly attracts over 100 diners, will take place on Friday, February 15, at the Lauderdale Hotel.
One of the organising committee members, Dougie Scott said: “It’s a chance for farmers and herds to have a really good night before they get into lambing. That was the idea behind it years ago, a ‘let your hair down’ before the serious work begins.”
Chairman of the organising committee Henry Douglas will open the evening. The toast to the herds will be proposed by Scottish Farmer deputy editor, Kenny Fletcher with the reply coming from Northumberland’s Stuart Wallace. Lauder’s Alan Henderson, who drives for livestock hauliers Campbells of Oxton, will propose the toast to the farmers and Gordon farmer Miles Browne will reply. Replying to the chair will be John Swan auctioneer, Scott Lambie.
Musical entertainer Tich Frear returns after his popular performance at last year’s event.
Tickets for the evening at the Lauderdale Hotel on Friday, February 15, are £25 available from Derek Taylor on 01578 722349 or Mr Scott on 01578 718662.
