“EUROCOGNOS School of Languages in Chirnside is where people of all ages can enjoy learning French, Italian, German or English,” says Principal Agnes Temper.

Believing anyone can learn a language, Agnes offers tuition groups for all abilities. Some are on a one to one basis, for example where a student needs extra help for their exam purposes. Groups are also a very popular option, where the costs of tuition are shared amongst members at very affordable prices.

There is even a language club called “Le Petit Club Français”, designed for younger children, learning French, with all the benefits this brings.

“Learning a language is similar to learning a musical instrument”, says Agnes. “There are no short cuts and no substitute for practicing. My language tuition is based on learning how the language works, rather than set phrases.”

Her system is borne out by the “A” grades her Standard Grades, Highers, GCSE and A Level students have achieved.

Agnes qualified as a teacher in her native Austria where she taught English and French at grammar schools in Vienna. She has lived and studied in both France and Italy, which helps tremendously with her knowledge not just of the language but also the people and the culture. Having lived and worked in both England and Scotland for a number of years, Agnes holds a full registration with the General Teaching Council for both sides of the border. In addition to language tuition, Agnes offers a translation service, using her International Network of Translators. She can be contacted on 01890 818929 or at agnes.temper@eurocognos.com
