Scottish Borders Council (SBC) and Borders Sport and Leisure Trust (BSLT) have continued in positive discussions about an integrated culture and sport trust.

An update on the process was provided to councillors at a meeting this week. A joint officer working group was formed after BSLT agreed to an approach from SBC to consider an integrated trust in February. A ‘reference group’ was formed to meet monthly to review the proposals made by the joint officer working group.

Councillor Vicky Davidson, executive member for culture, sport, youth and communities, said: “SBC and BSLT have been making good progress in working to establish if an integrated culture and sport trust is feasible. I look forward to the presentation of the completed feasibility report in October.”

Work has also been progressing on a business case to see whether integration should proceed.
