It’s been five years since the first ever Scottish Conker Championships and this year looks set to be the biggest and best yet.
Event organisers Borders Forest Trust are hoping that more competitors than ever will take part on Saturday (October 22), particularly following the recent cancellation of the World Conker Championships which takes place each year south of the Border in Northamptonshire.
The championships take place at Tweed Green, Peebles, as part of the Tweed Valley Forest Festival (www.forest-festival.com).
Categories for competitors are: Junior (7-11 years), Youth (12–18 years) and Adult (over 18s).
Within these age group categories, pre-laced conkers are supplied by the organisers meaning the competition is based on skill and a lot rests on a good choice of conker out of the bucket by the competitors.
To enter competitors should come along to the marquee on Tweed Green between noon and 1pm on Saturday to register.
