THE Borders Party have announced their East Berwickshire candidate for the Scottish Borders Council elections on May 3.
She is Cat Macdonald-Home, a former magazine editor and business consultant who now works with her husband David running their family business Wedderburn Castle, an exclusive-use wedding and party venue outside Duns.
She has also recently set up her own company marketing holiday cottages in the Scottish Borders. Cat has one child, Alexander Bruce, who was born in May 2010.
She said: “I decided to stand as a councillor for the Borders Party in order to defend the interests of Berwickshire and the Borders in general. I consider the Borders to be my home and having been brought up in the Highlands I feel that I understand the economic and social issues that affect such rural communities. Too often representatives of the major political parties are bound by the party line and are unable to truly represent the interests of their constituencies as a a result. The Borders Party offers a genuine alternative that has the best interests of the Borders at its core.”
