Borders MP and Secretary of State for Scotland Michael Moore attended the Church of Scotland’s General Assembly as guest of the Lord High Commissioner, the Queen’s representative at the Assembly.
The General Assembly was addressed by the Service Chaplains and Lt General Andrew Graham, Scotland’s senior army officer.
Mr Moore said: “I was delighted to attend the Assembly as guest of the Lord High Commissioner and as a son of the manse, it was a privilege to observe the proceedings.
“My father is also a former Service Chaplain so it was particularly fitting for me to be there as the Service Chaplains delivered their report, outlining the work they are doing to support our armed forces.
“Here in the Borders we have a rich and proud military heritage so as local MP I was pleased to hear the fantastic work being done by the Service Chaplains and to meet senior armed forces officers in Scotland.”
