On her 90th birthday, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth has received many happy returns from her subjects, Borderers included.

Graham Garvie, Scottish Borders Council convenor, wrote this week to Sir Christopher Geidt, the Queen’s Private Secretary.

“I write on behalf of the people of the Scottish Borders,” his note read, “to convey our warm congratulations and our delight to Her Majesty the Queen onthe occasion of her 90th birthday.”
