Borders Sport and Leisure is urging people of all ages to consider becoming sporting volunteers as part of Volunteers Week (June 1-7).

Over 1,200 people volunteer in some capacity throughout the region via Borders Sport and Leisure.

Ewan Jackson, Chief Executive of Borders Sport and Leisure said: “On a weekly basis thousands of people give up time to assist with sporting activities and it is only due to their efforts that we are able to enjoy such a fantastic range of activities across the region. Volunteering in sport can be exceptionally rewarding and opportunities to become involved are diverse and include everything from administration, general helpers, event marshalling and time keeping to becoming a fully trained and certified coach.”
