Borderers’ fitness challenge

Six months on from the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, residents in the Borders have been inspired to improve their fitness.

Regular walks are the popular choice of 72% of people from the Borders, 44% aim to take the stairs instead of lifts and escalators, and 36% aim to cycle to work.

Stewart Harris, chief executive of sportscotland which put £10 million into communities, said: “Community sport has been given a tremendous boost and there are now far more and better opportunities for people of all ages to take part in sport and physical activity.”
