SIR, - Last weekend I visited friends in Duns and they took me to see the Duns Players production of Brylcreem Boys.
I was expecting the usual standard of amateur dramatics but I was blown away by the show. After a bit of a slow start, I was drawn into the story by the terrific acting of the young cast who portrayed every emotion from happy-go-lucky young men to tortured souls. I’m sure that by the end mine was not the only moist eye in the theatre.
Duns people obviously appreciate their drama as by the time we arrived - with still half an hour to go before the start - the staff were putting out extra chairs and I’m not surprised if this is the level of acting they can expect.
May I, through your pages, extend my congratulations to the cast, writer and director for putting on a really great show. I hope that my next visit to Duns coincides with another Duns Players production.
