Blackhill wind farm community fund needs new directors

Blackhill Windfarm Community Fund has distributed more than £35,000 to groups and projects during 2016.

It is now open for applications for the next round of funding, with submissions to be made no later than January 31.

And it is also on the lookout for new directors for its decision-making board.

The amount of money received by the community fund is related to the power generated by Blackhill wind farm and can vary acsording to weather conditions over previous months.

The fund is managed by a board of directors representing each of four community councils, one director from energy company RES and independent directors who do not represent community councils.

It is currently looking to appoint another two directors, and anyone interested is asked to get in touch by emailing shz_conroy@

The board meets four times a year to consider applications, the aim being to proactively fund projects that have a positive long-term effect on communityies
