BHA has launched new online services aimed at providing better services for its tenants.
The services include a new look website which allows tenants to pay their rent on-line at a time that suits them; its Facebook page and Twitter feed.
“We live in a country where almost half the population are now using facebook regularly,” explained Helen Forsyth , BHA’s Chief Executive.
“As a social landlord, we have to move with the times and start connecting and communicating with our tenants in a way that they want.
“Of course for those out there that don’t use technology regularly, we’ll still be writing to you and calling you so don’t worry, we won’t forget about you.”
Jean Gray, BHA’s Customer Services Director is keen for as many tenants as possible to follow BHA on facebook and twitter.
“The Scottish Social Housing Charter that came into effect this year is really looking for RSL’s to reach out to those groups of tenants that conventional communications just don’t reach. Social media is one way of doing this but we need our tenants to sign up for it to work at its best. With the changes that Welfare Reform is bringing to many of our tenants, it’s more important than ever that they receive accurate and current information when and in whatever format they need it.”
BHA also has plans to launch a text messaging service this year that will allow tenants to text in for any reason like checking their rent account balance.
