Berwick’s BARK news

Thank you to everyone who came to our pet show last Sunday. We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused by the last minute change in venue.

The Pauline Gregory Trophy for Best in Show was won by Judy an ex BARK dog. First reserve was taken by Miss Pippa Parsons’ Russell Terrier whose owners had come all the way from Norfolk. We took over £700 on the day so thank you to all who came and supported us.

Among the many dogs we have in this week are Bailey, a three year-old Lhasa Apso who thinks he is bigger than he actually is. A home that is prepared to offer a firm but consistent approach to his training will be essential.

Holly is around six years old and a lovely medium sized cross. She is very affectionate and will make a good family dog and is always ready for a game of football.

This week we had contact from two owners who had taken older cats from us. Both were enthusing about what a wonderful addition to their homes these more mature cats had been.

So perhaps you might consider offering a home to Suki, a long haired white with some tabby, cat. She does enjoy being groomed and likes to lie out in the sun and the rain.

Then we have Poppy, an affectionate - if overweight - black cat who has almost reached her teen years. We have lots of other cats and kittens so please do consider a rescue. Christopher and Oliver are 14 week-old guineas and although they are in need of a little bit more handling they will make a super pair of guineas and are currently in our rabbit shed with over a dozen rabbits looking for homes.

Thank you to the White Swan in Lowick for holding a quiz night for us last week. We have a stall this Sunday at the Tesco Community Day. Our next Kennel Open Day will be on Saturday, September 3. Weather willing we will also have a car boot at the same time.
