Bends diver is airlifted

A DIVER was airlifted from the Berwickshire coast at the weekend and taken to hospital with a suspected case of decompression sickness.

The diver was picked up from St Abbs on Saturday afternoon by a helicopter scrambled from RAF Boulmer in Northumberland.

He was suffering from breathing difficulties and was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, which is the nearest site with decompression facilities.
