Beauty spot turned into eyesore

Reader Ian Sinclair sent in this photograph of what he says is “the normally beautiful picnic area by Whiteadder Reservoir”.

However, a visit to the area, around 11 miles north of Duns, on Sunday, June 12, showed the scorched remains of a campfire, rubbish left beside the fire and a discarded tent. “No words are needed to describe the scene,” added Ian.

The area is usually very popular with visitors as well as those enjoying sailing and canoeing, but some may be put off if others continue to leave it in this condition, he fears.
