Berwickshire Association of Voluntary Service’s (BAVS) charity shop on Coldstream High Street raised £100 for Honour Our Troops (HOT) by running a tombola, lucky dip and guess the number of sweets during Coldstream Civic Week.

Volunteers and patrons all took part, agreeing that Honour Our Troops (HOT) should be their nominated cause.

The town’s Honour Our Troops representatives gave an assurance that every penny will be used locally to help service personnel past, present and future.

Ann Martinson HOT trustee said: “We just couldn’t believe the generosity from BAVS we were simply stunned.”

Annemarie McCall vice chair of Honour Our Troops Coldstream branch added: “Usually it is Honour Our Troops raising funds for our own projects and to give out as grants for other projects regarding service personnel past, present and future. This came out of the blue and we are incredibly grateful for all BAVS has done and we will ensure that these funds will be used locally.”
