THANK you to all who attended our Easter Fayre last Saturday. Many people help to support our events and particular thanks go to James Ford & Sons for donating all the scones and hot cross buns and Connies Cakes at the Fishers Arms, Horncliffe, for donating all the cup cakes for our cakes stall, and delicious all three were.
Of course our thanks also go to all those who baked, supporters who donated items for use at the fayre and all the volunteers for their support.
It is a vast task organising these events and without our volunteers these events would be impossible to organise. We are always looking for extra volunteers to either plan or manage these events and would be delighted to hear from you if you would like to join us.
The new kennels are nearing completion and will be officially opened at 10.30am on Sunday, May 8. All are very welcome to attend; there will be a table top sale as well as a chance to look around the kennels, new and old.
There will still be a lot of work to do once the official opening has taken place, not least of which will the entire boundary fence to renew, things to paint etc etc.
We have a huge array of rabbits, small to large, singles and pairs, neutered and unneutered, friendly to in need of an understanding, tolerant home.
Dick is a very small rabbit, easily handled and inquisitive. Thumper is a beautiful looking sleek rabbit with a silvery coat.
We have two guineas who are will make super pets with lots of interesting behaviours and noises to watch and listen to. We also had a small, dark, fluffy rabbit handed in as a stray from the Newbiggin Farm area. Sadly it looks as though this rabbit was dumped and was very lucky to be found as both its teeth and nails were very overgrown. If he had been left to fend for himself any longer he would have died, unnecessarily, a very slow death from starvation. If you can no longer take care of an animal please contact us, we will do our best to help.
We have been joined by six extra cats under similar circumstances. Owners have moved out and just left them, inside, to fend for themselves. Fortunately for the cats there are kind people around who care. We believe they are all fairly young, under two. Please contact us for more details.
We have lots of other cats looking for homes. Twinkles is on the face of it a very timid cat but can stand up for herself and almost bully her owners. Definitely one for an understanding home.
We have had no news about owners on the cat with distinctive ginger stripe down its nose and one ginger paw, handed in from Eldon View, so sadly she will be looking for a new home next week.
We have several dogs in at the moment that are just in need of a little bit more understand or extra supervision. Jack is a lovely people terrier and can be okay around other dogs but then for no obvious reason he can take a dislike to a dog and it is very difficult to then get him to calm down.
Do you want a little dog that will need to remain on lead and although can be walked along side other dogs needs to be kept at a safe distance? He will repay you with lots of love an attention and will make a wonderful companion dog.
