BARK news

OUR AGM is being held on Wednesday, October 31 at 7pm at the RentonSwan Surgery on the Ramparts Industrial Estate. Everyone is welcome.

Next week is our Market Place which is being held at the Guildhall starting at 10am. There will be a wide range of stalls to help you start your Christmas shopping, including jewellery, Shopafrolics, The Body Shop, crafts, The Pampered Chef, Tumbling Birds, wood items, hand made cards and a range of food items from the Barn at Beal. The BARK Christmas 2012 raffle tickets will be on sale as well as our new Christmas cards.

We are very fortunate to receive such great support from the general community from the young to not so young. These range from donations of items to our shop and items for our tombolas and raffles to bedding, toys and food for the animals. Other people organise sponsored events and run cake sales.

We have recently been helped by one of our younger supporters. Anna Maxwell completed the Junior Great North Run with her sponsorship money being donated to BARK to help the animals in our care. Thank you Anna.

Of course we should not forget all the support we get from our volunteers who give up many thousands of hours a year to raise funds for BARK. Our shop is always very busy and we would be delighted to hear from anyone who could spare three hours once or twice a week to help out.

Just some of the animals in our care this week are several kittens who will be ready to go to their new homes in two or three weeks time. We have both boys and girls. We also have a super affectionate 12 week old kitten called Waffy - jet black, full of personality and will make a super addition to most families.

Cole has been with us a while and is an older cat. He loves a chat, a groom and a treat and will enjoy a retirement home where he will offer great companionship.

Clyde is around seven years old and a tan coloured, medium sized cross. He is good around the other dogs, walks well on lead and likes to be around people. Something has gone on in his past and he can be wary if he thinks he might have done something wrong, or strangely if he is over praised. Rollie is around four and a very handsome staffie. He is very people friendly but can be strong on lead.

As the kennels are full at the moment we have several dogs looking for homes that are currently still in their homes. These include two 18 month-old collies and a four year old weimaraner. Please see our website or contact us for more information.
