BARK news

WE have had reports of several cats going missing in the last week. A ginger tom, from Burnmouth, a grey cat from Ayton, and a Siamese from Paxton. Any information would be appreciated by worried owners.

We have many dogs looking for homes. Rescue dogs can make great pets but new owners must expect to spend time settling them into their new home, generally between two and six weeks but often it can take many months before an animal, particularly a dog feels settled enough to learn to trust again.

When that day comes a more rewarding experience will be hard to find.

Fliss is a seven-year-old white German Shepherd and a beauty. She is very loyal and affectionate, although she does have a thing about bikes. She will make a super companion.

Similarly Penny, who is approaching her teens, and a German Shepherd cross will provide all the love and loyalty one could ask for. She loves her walks but will equally enjoy being curled up by the fire. Takara is an Akita who walks well on lead. Although she has lived with other dogs she would be better as an only dog.

Rhona is almost in double figures and a tri colour collie. She is not great around other dogs and would need to be walked on a lead. She is very people friendly and great company.

We have three lurcher types. Buzz, who is black, Rocco, a large brindle, both around four, and Millie, white with a black spot, and still under a year. We also have a nice English Bull Terrier cross under a year and although timid at first she just wants to be loved.

We have lots of cats including black, tabby and tortishells in ages ranging from a few months to a few years. We also have a nice selection of rabbits and guineas.
