The campaign to save the St Abbs Lifeboat reached the Scottish Parliament this week, when Conservative MSP John Lamont and party leader Ruth Davidson posed with the campaign’s placards at Holyrood.

Mr Lamont called for the RNLI to consider delaying the closure for another year, saying: “The RNLI has just been given tax relief worth around £2.5 million annually. I’d hope these savings can be put to good use to protect frontline services. Delaying the decision for a year will allow these savings to come through and may mean the RNLI is in a position to retain the station.”
