Ayton residents will have a chance to see for themselves the plans for the land around Peelwalls House, at a meeting in the village hall on Friday, September 26, at 7.30pm.
Stuart McIntyre, director, of Misail Ltd, the company that purchased the partly built development next to Peelwalls House, said this week: “We have been completing the work to the site and houses to allow occupation of the five houses that were part built. We have also sought, and received, permission to change planning use on these five houses to social housing from use by the over 55s.
“We have submitted a planning application to change the use and scale of the remainder of the site, seeking to build a further 24 instead of 31 more houses. These will be two, three and four bedroom houses aimed at the local community, of which a further six will be for social housing.”
In 1998 planning permission was given for a retirement care village of over 30 houses in the grounds of Peelwalls House but a decade later the house had closed as a nursing home, only five of the houses had been built and none of them attracted buyers. The new owner of Peelwalls House then sought to break the link between the main house and the new builds.
