The challenges faced by the elderly and disabled wanting to get out and about were discussed by MSPs who travelled to Duns this week to meet representatives from Berwickshire based voluntary organsiations.

The visit is part of a fact finding programme by members of the Scottish Parliament’s Infrastructure and Capital Investment Committee who want to know how easy it is to get out and about in the Borders.

Committee member Margaret McCulloch MSP met with representatives from Berwickshire Association for Voluntary Service, Berwickshire Wheels, WRVS, transport users and drivers of community transport to hear about problems community transport users and providers face and also to identify examples of where services are working well.
