The Scottish A1 Action Group held its fifth meeting last week. Those present included representatives of Transport Scotland, Amey, East Lothian Council, Scottish Borders Council and SEStran.

Transport Scotland provided a detailed updated on possible improvements to various junctions along the un-dualled sections of the route between Dunbar and Berwick-on-Tweed, which had been identified by campaigners at the previous meeting of the group in December. A useful site visit with campaigners had since taken place.

The meeting was also briefed on plans to dual parts of the A1 south of the border.

It was agreed Councillor Veitch, as chair of the group, would write to the Scottish Transport Minister about the Scottish Government’s future plans.
