Scottish Borders Councillors representing the un-dualled sections of the A1 have joined with their East Lothian colleagues in writing to the Scottish Transport Minister asking for work to improve specific junctions.

Councillor Michael Veitch (Dunbar & East Linton ward), who chairs the Scottish A1 Action Group, said:“In previous correspondence, the Transport Minister has stated the Scottish Government’s Strategic Transport Projects Review ‘recommends route management measures on the A1 to maintain the route’s physical condition and safety standards’ which could include ‘individual junction improvements’.

“While the Scottish A1 Action Group will continue to campaign for the full dualling of the A1 between Dunbar and Berwick, we would strongly support practical measures to improve some of the worst junctions on the route as an important first step.”
