There is now just a week for Borders residents to take part in a consultation being run by Ofcom on the future of television provision in the Borders.
Both options for the future of ITV Border would include restoring a dedicated local news service similar to that provided before the merger with the Tyne Tees region. However, the first option would also include a weekly current affairs programme dedicated to the area. The second would instead include 90 minutes of other regional programming, most likely to be bought from STV.
John Lamont MSP said: “The results of this consultation will have a lasting impact on regional news and current affairs in the Borders. There is no doubt in my mind that Option 1 provides exactly the right level of local content that viewers are looking for.”
