DESIGNING Christmas cards is child’s play for Borders schoolpupils and once again local MSP John Lamont was spoilt for choice when it came to picking a winner for his annual Christmas card competition.

Overall winner was 14-year-old Maia Lyall from Kelso High School, and among the runners-up was six-year-old Anna Dickson, a pupil at Westruther Primary School.

John said: “This year’s Christmas card competition saw hundreds of entries from all across my constituency and they were all of a very high standard. Anna Dickson’s entry was very impressive and well deserving of a runners-up prize.

“I was delighted to be able to present her with her prize in person.

“I know that everyone in Westruther Primary School was very proud of her efforts.

“My Christmas card shall be sent to thousands of homes and although not the overall winner, Anna’s entry shall be displayed on the back of every card along with the other runners-up.

“I want to thank all those who entered the competition from all across Berwickshire, for making it one of the best years yet.”
