A century of life in Longformacus

Celebrating a centenary of being at the centre of life there are big plans for Longformacus Village Hall this year - the main celebrations beginning on the weekend of June 7-9.

Following a private view for residents and donors on Friday, June 7, a two day exhibition showcasing ‘A Century of Lammermuir Life’ will open to the public from 11am-5pm with Duns Pipe Band getting Saturday morning off to a rousing start! A guided walking trail will lead visitors around the village showing off its quirky architectural and historic highlights.

Village Hall chairman, Mark Rowley, said: “We’ve been overwhelmed with offers of documents and material that illustrate the village’s past, but we are still keen to hear from others. We are also looking for everyday objects that were in use a century ago, such as tools and costumes, to give a flavour of life in the Lammermuirs”

Over 100 early images of the village have already been offered and many of the images and documents will continue to be available on www.lammermuirlife.co.uk as a virtual archive of Lammermuir Life
