Back in May 1980, Borders Health Council held a project for the region’s schools.

It was entitled ‘Prevention is better than cure’ and the tiny nine-pupil school of Millburn won the first prize, a few years before its closure.

Pictured above are Mrs B R Darling chairman of the Berwickshire Territorial Group, who is handing over a cheque for £10 to the school’s headmistress, Miss Dorothy Anderson. Looking on are the school’s pupils.
