Eyemouth Harbour

The Eyemouth fishing fleet returned to port this week, fifty years ago, 18 months after sailing out to allow development work on the town’s harbour.

The extensive development, which was estimated to cost £350,000, had been started in August 1963 and there was still some work to be done around the returning boats.

Mr A Lamb, who was in charge of the work, said that an average of 85 men, many of them local s, had been employed over the last 14 months. Mr Lamb added that the main improvements were the deepening, and refacing of the harbour.
