Pictured above us Lieutenant-Colonel Sir William Swan, having a word with Sergeant Dan Laidlaw of Greenlaw, as the KOSB’s Guard of Honour was inspected in Duns in 1989.

The King’s Own Scottish Borderers were in the town to receive the honour of the Freedom of Berwickshire District. Large crowds gathered to cheer the battalion, and they were entertained by a display of military weapons and vehicles in the grounds of the High School as well as a performance of freefall parachuting by ‘the Golden Lions’.
