The 2014 Dunbar Civic Week programme is absolutely packed with fabulous events - including some very interesting new ones!!

This year Civic Week also coincides with the Queen’s Baton Relay which passes through the town on Tuesday.

On Saturday, June 14, there will be an afternoon of entertainment including touring theatre, live music and loads of fun and games in Lauderdale Park.

Saturday, June 14, is Gala Day and the Civic Week parade starts at 12 noon. This year’s theme is ‘Inspiration - John Muir, Commonwealth Games, what inspires you?’.

This year’s Civic Week Queen Jessica Martin will be crowned by the head boy and girl of Dunbar Grammar School at 12.45pm.

The Sunny Dunny Derby will see toilets on wheels racing down the High Street from 1.15-2.30pm.

The Fun Day at Lauderdale Park follows from 2.30-9.30pm.

This is a fun-filled afternoon of entertainment including touring theatre, live music and loads of fun and games in Lauderdale Park.

This is the curtain-raiser for a full-on week of community events featuring long-time favourites like the Countess Youth Club Pet Show and the Annual Civic Week Quiz but also really exciting new events such as the DAFTAs, Coast2Coast Surf Sprints, Foxlake Friday’s Furious 5 and CoastWord - Dunbar’s new festival of words!

The week’s programme includes: Sunday -

Monday - Movie Madness at West Barns Hall (screenings 2.30pm and 8.30pm); DAFTA’s ceremomy (Dunbar’s Amazing Film Talent Awards), West Barns Hall, 6.30pm.

Tuesday - Queen’s Baton Relay passes through the town; Track and Trails at Lochend Wood, 3.30pm-5pm; Countess Youth Club Pet Show, at the Bleachingfield, 6.30pm.

Wednesday - Bookbug Sessions at The Library, 9am and 10am; Belhaven Brewery Open Doors, 10am to 4.30pm; UNICEF Hat Competition Lunch, at Dunbar Blowling Club, 12 noon to 2pm; Together We Count Orienteering at Dunbar Primary School, 5-6pm; Fun Dog Show at Winterfield Park, 6-8pm; Five-a-side Football at Hallhill, 6.30pm.

Thursday - Fun Swim at Dunbar Leisure Pool, 6.30pm to 8pm; Annual Civic Week Quiz at the British Legion, 7.30pm.

Friday - Family Roller Disco at John Muir Campus, 2.30-4.30pm; Foxlake Friday, including the Furious 5 Community Challenge and Disc Golf Doubles Family Tournament, from 5pm; CoastWord events (see www.coastword.co.uk).
