Circuses, even in the recent past, were a very different spectacle compared to those we know today.
And this was very much in evidence when the Circus Fiesta rolled into Eyemouth in August 1989.

It featured Tina, the 25-year-old elephant, and a young man who gave his name only as Shiganio, the self-declared “clown prince from Israel”.

The colourful show also featured tightrope walkers and unicyclists as well as, above, Tony Hopkins and his four Royal Bengal Tigers.
