Graham Bell and fellow cycling enthusiast Jim McGurn were surrounding themselves with bikes at the Lees Cycling Stables, Coldstream, in 1990.

An invention of theirs, the ‘Duet’, won the Best bike and Best Overall awards at the National Cyclex competition earlier in the year.

The Duet, Graham explained, allowed disabled people more freedom. “It enables them to see the countryside, travel the roads and just to get out in the open,” he said.
