CALL TO US FOR MINISTER: At a meeting of the Presbytery of Duns on Tuesday, a letter was submitted from the minister of St Abbs, Rev R D Burnett, asking for Permission to demit his charge and accept an appointment in the United States. Presbytery Clerk, Rev D A Hodges, said that Mr Burnett had received a call to the ministry in Caimlla and Elmodel in the Presbytery of South West Georgia. Mr Hodges said Mr Burnett had booked passage from Southampton and would demit his charge around Easter.

COLDSTREAM WITHOUT WATER SUPPLY: Many houses in Coldstream were without water for 48 hours after the River Tweed flooded. In one Council housing estate the water was restored on Saturday and concern was expressed at the state of the water supply at the Town Council.
