Duns rally driver Louise Aitken-Walker and her Swedish co-driver miraculously cheated death on the Portuguese Rally last week when their car plunged 300ft down a cliff and landed in a lake.

“I honestly thought I was going to die,” said Louise, who is now back at home after her terrifying ordeal.

Both Louise and her co-driver Tina Thorner unbelievably escaped serious injury in the horrific incident which occurred on the first full day of the Portuguese Rally, round two of the World Rally Championships.

Louise arrived at one corner with water on the surface and their Astra aquaplaned off the road.
