Guides raise money for Knoll Hospital

Duns guides Grace Allman, Emily Sawers and Claire Wilson donating money to the Knoll hospital after an 11mile sponsored walk

ON a chilly Sunday morning in November, three members of Duns Guide Unit took part in an 11 mile sponsored walk.

Grace Allman, Emily Sawers and Claire Wilson set off from Duns Market Square on a long walk which took them to Gavinton, Fogo, Nisbet and Putton Mill before returning to Duns. They were accompanied by members of their families.

They undertook this walk to raise funds for their Baden-Powell Adventure, the final part of their Baden-Powell Award. However, they also decided it would be a good idea to give some of the money raised to the Knoll Hospital in Duns to show their appreciation of the care and attention given to some of their loved ones who had been looked after in The Knoll.

The walk took them three and a half hours but was well worth it as they were so well-supported by their friends and families who encouraged them all the way and sponsored them to the tune of around £300.

The Guides have used part of the proceeds to pay for their adventure but donated £165 to the Friends of The Knoll.

They went along to the Friends of The Knoll committee meeting recently where they presented the cheque to Anne Cummins, president. She thanked them for their generosity.

The Guides would like to thank everyone who sponsored them and they thoroughly enjoyed their walk!
