Forget Me Not walkers raised £4k

THE 2012 Forget Me Not Walk raised over £4,000 for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.

Walkers came from as far a field as Yorkshire and Cumbria to take part in the annual walk on Holy Island, organised by the North Northumberland Fundraising Group. Organisers Helen Tait and Marion Black said: “We would like to thank everyone who helped to make the walk such a success.

“In particular we would like to thank Elliott and Pam Hill, along with the Duke of Edinburgh students for their excellent help in marshalling the walk.

“We are also indebted to John Lackenby and Northumbrian Water, who sponsored bottled water for the day, and it was very kind of Lindisfarne Limited to allow us to use their forecourt for the day.”

They added: “We are always amazed by the support from friends, family and local supporters who walk every year.”

Walkers included people whose families had been affected by blood cancers, as well as medical staff from the Freeman Hospital.

The money raised will help fund life-saving research into Leukaemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma at the North East Centre for Cancer Research in Newcastle.
